Manufacturing Engineer Job Description

Job Responsiblities

  • Focus on safety in all job aspects and company meetings
  • Implement Lean manufacturing techniques (J.I.T., Continuous Flow, Kanban, Manufacturing Cells)
  • Develop and implement manufacturing systems and operating procedures
  • Train supervisors and support personnel in new production processes
  • Provide technical support and training for equipment and personnel
  • Develop and upgrade manufacturing labor standards
  • Monitor and evaluate operating costs for compliance with budget
  • Create and update documentation for manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate and recommend plant layout changes for efficiency
  • Develop short- and long-term manufacturing strategies and objectives
  • Evaluate, justify, and install new equipment and tooling
  • Develop maintenance strategies to reduce equipment downtime
  • Actively participate in the development of new products
  • Leverage Lean principles for new manufacturing processes
  • Support and train employees in kaizen continuous improvement sessions
  • Continually monitor manufacturing labor cost indices
  • Design and modify jigs, fixtures, and tooling for improved methods
  • Maintain expertise with Brake press, Laser machines, welding, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Requirements and Education

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a related manufacturing environment, supervisory experience preferred.
  • Background and experience in a production GMAW welding environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Coordination of activities within cross-functional teams
  • Computer software, data entry, and analysis skills
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Experience with CAD, CAM, MRP systems
  • Basic knowledge of steel fabrication, welding, and industrial equipment assembly
  • Project management skills
  • Understanding of tooling, fixtures, dimensional accuracy, and quality.
